Last Minute Gift Giving Made Easy and Healthy!

The Holidays are around the corner.  Have you finished your shopping yet?

We have some great healthy ideas for your last minute shopping ideas.  Here are our top picks.

1.  A French Press-most people start their day with a cup of coffee.  If prepared correctly using a French Press it can be healthy and full of anti-oxidants.  Traditional coffee makers are mostly plastic parts on the inside that leach BPA and other harmful chemicals.  Traditional take-out coffee is laden with pesticides.  Preparing a coffee at home with a French Press gives you all the benefits without the toxicity.

2.  A subscription to a healthy food box delivery program.  Get organic produce delivered to your house on a regular schedule that works for you.  You also get recipes included.  This allows the foodie to experiment with healthy, local foods and be creative.  This is a great way to help someone with a New Year’s Resolution to eat better.  Pair it with a healthy cookbook and you have a great gift.  Check out Organics Live for local delivery in the KW area.

3.  Salt Lamps are a big trend right now.  They help to neutralize damage from Electromagnetic Radiation and Wi-Fi creating a clean work or home environment.  They are pretty, inexpensive and make beautiful gifts.  They also come in a variety of sizes and kids really love them too.

4.  Consider a variety of healthy home care items or make-up.  Cleaning products, beauty products and make-up are usually laden with parabens and phthalates that are hormone disruptors.  Choose some healthier items for stocking stuffers and help reduce exposure to toxic ingredients that have been linked to long-term illnesses like cancer, diabetes and others.  This is a great way to introduce the young women in your life to healthy products that they can start using at an early age.

5.  Homemade jams, baking mixes and other homemade mason jar gifts.  These gifts are very easy to make and to give.  They are also good for the environment as they produce less waste and generally promotes less materialism.  You can make them as healthy as you want since you get to control the ingredients.  My favourite part about this is that it is also a great activity to do if you have young kids.  They make great teacher gifts too!

6.  Gift cards.  We usually think of gift cards for big box stores but you can also buy gift cards for massages, health food stores and consults with alternative practitioners.  Consider things like acupuncture for facial rejuvenation (an alternative to traditional facelifts or Botox) or reflexology and give the gift of health this season.

From all the practitioners at Sage Naturopathic Clinic, we wish you and your families Happy Holidays and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
