Psychotherapist, MACP, MFT, OACCPP
Michael Temple is a psychotherapist who provides counseling to individuals, couples, and families, including children and adolescents. He practices Narrative therapy which treats problems as external influences, rather than treating people themselves as the cause of problems.
Michael believes that people are unique experts in their own lives. Problems often manifest as disharmony between one’s preferences, values and commitments against powerful social ideals of normalcy and conformity. Problems such as depression, substance abuse, anxiety, and family discord are intruders that hinder people from living the lives they prefer. Such problems only tell a portion of the story of someone’s life. Exploring a person’s values as to what makes his or her life meaningful opens the book on a new storyline in which problems can become distant, diminished, or dissolved.
Michael offers psychotherapeutic services and/or expertise in the following areas:
- Anger Management
- Couples/Family Disharmony
- Divorce, Separation and Co-Parenting
- Substance Abuse
Michael received his Bachelor of Arts from Arizona State University. He earned a Masters of Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marital and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. He trained and worked at Pepperdine’s Community Counseling Center in Irvine, California. He is an accredited member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists.
